Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan
Providing direction for outdoor recreation in New Mexico through 2031
This five-year plan will do the following:
Address the state and nation’s outdoor recreation trends and their economic impacts
Inventory the state’s recreation resources and address how best to protect them
Help determine the state’s priorities for awarding federal funds from the Land and Water Conservation Fund to local communities
Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF)
Find out about this permanently funded U.S. federal program that provides matching grant funds to federal, state, and local governments for the acquisition and development of land and water for public recreation and conservation. The Stateside local assistance program of the LWCF provides 50:50 matching grants to states via the National Park Service. In New Mexico, the Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department, State Parks Division (EMNRD), administers the LWCF program.
